Germany’s EuroBasket team unveiled

NBA guard Dennis Schroder headlines the 13-man roster of the German national team from which the 2022 EuroBasket will emerge. Germany enters the tournament with some high goals, given also that the country hosts one of the Group stages in Cologne and the entirety of the knockout phase in Berlin.

Indiana Pacers big man Daniel Theis is added to the team after missing August’s 2023 World Cup Qualifiers due to injury. His status for the EuroBasket was considered questionable and now he managed to make the roster.

Apart from Schroder and Theis, Germany’s squad features Orlando Magic swingman Franz Wagner. EuroLeague center Johannes Voigtmann and guard Maodo Lo are also some of the most notable names of the team. One more cut will be made before the start of the EuroBasket on 1/9.

Germany’s current squad: Niels Giffey, Justus Hollatz, Maodo Lô, Andreas Obst, Dennis Schröder, Christian Sengfelder, Daniel Theis, Johannes Thiemann, Johannes Voigtmann, Nick Weiler-Babb, Franz Wagner, Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann.

Germany will compete in Group B (Cologne), arguably the toughest of all preliminary groups since it also includes defending champion Slovenia, contender France and medal prospect Lithuania, along with Bosnia & Herzegovina plus Hungary.
