Several NBAers and a couple of prominent EuroLeague names compile the roster of the French national team for the 2022 EuroBasket (1/9 – 18/9).
New York Knicks guard Evan Fournier and Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert are present with the French team for a second consecutive summer in order to bring Les Bleus back to the podium. They are joined by such players as NBA wing Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Real Madrid forward Guerschon Yabusele, ASVEL Villeurbanne guard Elie Okobo, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Theo Maledon and veteran playmaker Thomas Heurtel.
The 12-man roster of France: Andrew Albicy, Moustapha Fall, Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert, Thomas Heurtel, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Theo Maledon, Amath M’Baye, Elie Okobo, Vincent Poirier, Terry Tarpey, Guerschon Yabusele.
“I have confidence in our potential but, for the moment, it’s not optimized,” France coach Vincent Collet. Indeed, the potential of his team is such that can bring the gold medal if reached. First, France will have to advance from a difficult Group B (Cologne) and after facing defending champion Slovenia, Lithuania, Hungary, Bosnia and host Germany. The top four teams will move to the Top 16 knockout phase in Berlin.
