Turkey is a young team, that has a lot of ups and downs, but it’s obvious that the future belongs to them. And for Alperen Sengun, the future is now.
Asked by Eurohoops if he considers his team one of the medal contenders, he didn’t hesitate to answer: “Yeah, I think so. But e have to play hard, we have to play tough”.
And toughness is part of Sengun’s game, whose progress has been spectacular and the grind of the NBA season has helped him deliver also in the Eurobasket: “In the NBA we play a lot of games against legendary players. We are learning constantly everything. We are learning about that busy schedule too, which I am used to it. Here, we play two back-to-back games and then have a day of rest, so we are ready for this. In the next season, things will be even better for me”.
For now, Turkey and Sengun want to get their third win in the group against host Georgia and then duel with Spain for the top.
As Sengun admits for today’s game: ” They are playing at home and we will be ready for this. We expect a fight. It’s a good team, they have some NBA players and also a couple of their players share the same agent with me”.
