After missing the game against Slovenia – which Hungary lost 88-103 – due to a hamstring injury and returning to play against France, Adam Hanga has announced to Basket News that this could have probably been his last game of the tournament.
“There was a moment when I pulled my hamstring again. I didn’t play the last game against Slovenia because I pulled it against Bosnia and we were trying to recover for this game. I had this injury throughout the whole season basically. That was probably the last game in the tournament for me. Mathematically we’re not going to go to the Top 16, so I am probably not going to play”, he said.
Adam Hanga has been Hungary’s leader and an essential player for coach Stojan Ivkovic, despite their current 0-3 record. The Real Madrid forward has averaged 17 points (15th in the competition), 5.5 rebounds (17th in the competition), and 2.5 assists per game in the two losses against Bosnia and France.
He was crucial in Hungary’s comeback attempt against France, closing the game with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4/8 3pts, but he didn’t play in the very last minutes, showing a lot of suffering from the bench.
Hungary will play its last EuroBasket 2022 games against Lithuania (tomorrow at 17:15) and Germany (on Wednesday at 20:30).
