Three wins in five games and most importantly beating Bulgaria Wednesday placed Belgium in Group A’s fourth seed and accordingly in the bracket of the 2022 EuroBasket knockout stage.
“I am very excited. This is something we have been wanting for a long time,” said Retin Obasohan after the Gameday 5 triumph over Bulgaria to clinch a berth in the Round of 16, “But to be here, achieve the things that we have, be together, playing Belgium basketball is special.”
Obasohan, 29, produced 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest over the five games of the preliminary round. Moving to Berlin, the Lions will take on Slovenia and Luka Doncic at 12:45 CET Saturday.
From EuroBasket to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne as the next stop at the club level. Obasohan also revealed his excitement to play in France alongside Nando de Colo next season.
