Injured in the game with Belgium, Zoran Dragic will not be able to continue to play in the rest of the Eurobasket. The younger of the two Dragic brothers has torn a part of his quadriceps muscle and will probably be out of action for six to eight weeks, which is the usual recovery time for this type of injury.
As he said: “Obviously, I am not destined to be able to help the national team in the decisive battles at the European championships. But that’s the unpredictability of sports. I will help my teammates from the bench, encourage them loudly and thereby add positive energy, which we will still need in the following days. I believe that the boys will come together, even more, leave their hearts on the court, and in the end, we will look forward to the good result that we all want so much. These days I am already starting rehabilitation. Both in the national team and in the club, we have an excellent medical, physiotherapist, and coaching service, and together we will do everything to return to the floor well prepared”.
Zoran proved to be quite unlucky, since he was also injured in Eurobasket 2017 when Slovenia won the trophy, and his brother Goran underlined to Eurohoops that he would love to win this time together with his brother.
Per competition rules, it’s permitted to replace players in case they are injured and Slovenia will continue its campaign to defend its title with 11 players.
