After a fight in the first half, Italy got a partial score of 28-9 in the third period and cruised to the 83-62 road win in Hungary.
Nobody expected that the game would end up this way after the hosts led by one point at halftime (37-36). However, the third quarter ended with Italy up by 18 (64-46), and the game was over.
What’s even more impressive is that the turnaround for Italy was a total team effort with six players finishing the game with nine or more points and the duo of Amedeo Tessitori and Giordano Bortolani scoring 12 points each.
Achille Polonara added 10 points, while for the losing side, Zoltan Perl had 12 points and Adam Hanga added 11.
Still, it was Gabriele Procida, who scored all of his nine points in a dominant third quarter, plus one rebound, two assists and two steals.
Thanks to this result, Italy has a 2-0 record and the top spot in Group B, while Hungary dropped to 0-2, under Turkiye and Iceland (1-1).
