Vassilis Toliopoulos scored 23 points, dished out eight assists and made the go-ahead layup as Greece to a 74 – 72 away win over the Netherlands in Day 2 of the EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers.
After leading Greece to a comeback from down 13 by scoring 15 points in the third period, Toliopoulos drove to the basket for the layup that made it 72 – 71 for his team with 29 seconds remaining. Vassilis Charalampopoulos then dunked in transition after a steal as Greece secured its second victory in a row.
Roeland Schaftenaar (15 points) and Yannick Kraag (13 points) scored in double figures for the Dutch team that was up 31 – 18 in the mid of the second period and went ahead 41 – 32 early in the second half. Toliopoulos went off around then though and turned the game completely. The match was closed with multiple leads in the fourth quarter until Greece made the decisive buckets in the last minute.
Dimitris Moraitis added 14 points and Charalampopoulos scored 10 for Greece. Their team traveled to Hague without Dinos Mitoglou, Thomas Walkup and Kostas Papanikolaou – the trio that led them to win over Czechia, and Giannoulis Larentzakis. If the absences weren’t enough, guard Naz Mitrou-Log suffered a shoulder injury in practice and center Kostas Antetokounmpo hurt his knee in the first half and was forced to exit the game.
