Frédéric Fauthoux has been appointed as the new head coach of the French men’s national basketball team, succeeding Vincent Collet after 15 years, as officially confirmed.

The announcement was made by Jean-Pierre Siutat, President of the French Basketball Federation, following proposals from Technical Director Alain Contensoux, Director of Performance Jacques Commères, and General Manager Boris Diaw.

A former guard for the national team with 47 caps and a bronze medal from EuroBasket 2005, Fauthoux, 51, currently coaches JL Bourg Basket in Betclic Élite and EuroCup. His club has agreed to release him for all upcoming international commitments.

Fauthoux will lead the team through key events, including the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers in November, EuroBasket 2025, the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, and eventually, the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

He will be supported by assistants Laurent Vila and Bryan George (who will miss some early windows due to NBA duties), personal development coach Joseph Gomis, consultant Pascal Donnadieu, and video coordinator Maxime Chiron.
