Appointed President of the Serbian Basketball Federation only a few weeks ago, Nebojsa Covic already found its first victory, securing head coach Svetislav Pesic to stay at the helm of the country’s bench.

According to Meridian Sport, the Serbian tactician is set to guide his national team at least until EuroBasket 2025. Despite the 75-year-old head coach announcing several times he wanted his mandate to be concluded with this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris, he changed his mind.

With Svetislav Pesic on board in his last stint with Serbia, the country won the silver medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and the bronze medal at the Olympics, losing only to Team USA in the Semi-Finals.

He will also try to get his revenge at EuroBasket 2025 after the country’s early elimination in the competition in 2022 against Italy, losing in the Eight-Finals.
