FIBA Europe announced on Wednesday the seedings for the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Qualifiers draw which is scheduled to take place in Munich on Friday, 22 January.
27 teams will participate in the Qualifiers between 31 August and 17 September 2016 which will provide the last 11 tickets to FIBA EuroBasket 2017 in Finland, Israel, Romania and Turkey.
The 27 teams will be divided into seven round robin groups -six groups of four teams and one group of three teams – with the group winners and the four best second-placed teams advancing.
13 teams have already punched a ticket to FIBA EuroBasket 2017.
Those are the four host countries (Finland, Israel, Romania and Turkey); EuroBasket 2015 finalists and guaranteed 2016 Rio Olympics competitors Spain and Lithuania; and the seven other nations (in addition to Turkey) who will participate in the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournaments: Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia and Serbia.
In addition to the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Qualifiers, the draws of all of this summer’s European youth championships in all age categories, as well as those of the FIBA European Championships for Small Countries, will take place on Friday
