EuroLeague superstar Shane Larkin will be playing for the Turkish national team in the 2025 Eurobasket, Turkey coach Ergin Ataman revealed.
“In the EuroBasket 2025 title, Shane will be with us,” Ataman said in a preview for the upcoming episode of Larkin’s Off The RECourt podcast that will feature the Panathinaikos coach as a guest. “We talked many times with him. We agreed because I know he wants to help Turkish basketball. ”
Larkin, currently sidelined with Anadolu Efes due to injury, last wore Turkey’s colors in the 2022 EuroBasket. He was forced to skip the Olympic Games Pre-Qualifiers last year due to health concerns while Fenerbahce Beko guard Scottie Wilbekin – Turkey’s other American-born naturalized player – also withdrew from training camp.
Both Larkin and Wilbekin had their Turkish citizenships revoked due to their decision while receiving fines and suspensions by the Turkish Basketball Federation.
As Ataman mentioned, apart from Larkin, now Wilbekin will also be available again as an option for the EuroBasket.
