Kamar Baldwin officially received Georgian citizenship, the Georgian Basketball Federation announced on Tuesday.

Baldwin, 27, is eligible to play for the senior national team of Georgia effective immediately.

Heading to the approaching international window of FIBA, Aleksandar Dzikic, the selector of the senior national team can choose between the native of Winder, Georgia of the United States, and Ohio native Joe Thomasson for the single naturalized slot on the active lineup.

The Georgian passport also permits playing for Baskonia in the Liga Endesa without taking a foreigner spot on the gameday squad. Therefore, head coach Pablo Laso gets additional options for future ACB fixtures.

In his first Turkish Airlines EuroLeague campaign, Baldwin has put up 6.1 points, 3.3 assists, 1.4 rebounds, 0.6 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest over seven appearances, including three starts under the guidance of Laso. At the domestic level, squad restrictions limited him to two games played, averaging 15.0 points and 5.0 assists per contest in the 2024-25 installment of Spain’s top-tier division.

Signing with the team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, he launched his fifth professional season since coming out of Butler in 2020. With Dolomiti Energia Trento, he played in the 2023-24 editions of BKT EuroCup and Italy’s LBA UnipolSai, following spells with the Maine Celtics in the 2022-23 G League season, BG Gottingen in the 2021-22 installment of Germany’s easyCredit BBL, and Turk Telekom in Basketball Champions League and Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi through the 2020-21 season.
