Serbia coach Pesic expects some players of Partizan, Zvezda to join team in November window

The Serbian national team will be playing against Denmark in next week’s games for the 2025 EuroBasket qualifiers and coach Svetislav Pesic expects some players from EuroLeague sides Crvena Zvezda and Partizan Belgrade to be available.

“It will be difficult,” Pesic said to RTS. “Once again we cannot count on the players who will play in the Euroleague that day. We have an agreement and understanding with Red Star and Partizan. Some of their players will be available, and which ones – we will know only tomorrow, after the new round of the ABA league. Anything is possible, God forbid any injuries, but we have an absolute understanding of Zvezda and Partizan.”

Pesic named Crvena Zvezda forwards Ognjen Dobric and Dejan Davidovac along with big men Filip Petrusev and Uros Plavscic to Serbia’s preliminary roster. The list also includes Partizan Belgrade guard Vanja Marinkovic, forwards Aleksej Pokusevski and Mario Nakic plus center Balsa Koprivica.

The only other EuroLeague player on the roster is Fenerbahce Beko guard Marko Guduric. The injury-plagued Fener will be facing Virtus Bologna on the road Wednesday 20/11, a day before Serbia’s game vs. Denmark in Copenhagen.

“It makes me happy that we are all on the same side, it is good for the national team, for the players, and for the fans as well,” Pesic added. “We expect that in that second game in Belgrade, at Pionir, the stands will be full. Then some players from the Euroleague will be able to play, such as Gudurić from Fenerbahce, who cannot play the first game, but we hope he will play the second.”

Serbia, currently, the Group G leader at 2 – 0, will then face Denmark in Belgrade Sunday 24/11. The Danish team is 1-1.
