The 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers night delivered another surprise, as Great Britain stunned the Greek national team at home, winning 73-72 and surviving the opponents’ comeback.
Gabriel Olaseni was dominant under the rim with 16 points and 8 rebounds, assisted by Quinn Ellis and Akwasi Yeboah. Trento’s playmaker had 15 points and 8 assists to lead the British national team from the control room, while Trapani’s forward had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Coach Marc Hendrick Steutel couldn’t be more satisfied: “We really pride ourselves on how we stay together on good and bad moments. We were down by -17 and it was huge that we came back to single digits before halftime. I am really, really proud”.
On the other side, Vassilis Spanoulis’ national team couldn’t find the third straight victory in Group F, staying unbeaten. Dimitris Moraitis, who joined the team from Panathinaikos, had 13 points; next to them, Vasileos Toliopolous led the team in scoring with 14 points.

“It’s not a tough loss, we had a lot of new faces and I am pretty happy to see my players compete”, said coach Spanoulis.
Naz Mitrou Long added: “As the coach said, it’s the details. Thankfully we are going to see them again on Sunday and we will be ready”.
