It’s no news that Sasha Vezenkov is having a masterclass season with Olympiacos, but since his return to Europe, he hadn’t delivered with the Bulgarian national team yet.
However, keeping Bulgaria alive in the race for FIBA EuroBasket 2025 with the 81-77 victory over Sweden in overtime, he absolutely stole the show.
The stellar forward had a monstrous double-double of 40 points and 18 rebounds. Sasha Vezenkov spent 43:15 minutes on the floor and shot 7/11 from two, 6/14 from three, and a perfect 8/8 at the line. Overall, he had a 49-efficiency performance to boost his country.

“We will fight against Germany until the end. I don’t know yet if I will play against the Germans. I have to talk to my team. You know what the schedule is, and what games are coming up. Whenever I can, I am available. Let tonight pass and we will see,” Sasha Vezenkov said.
Bulgaria also had the contribution of Codi Miller-McIntyre, who went close to a double-double at 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists.
For Sweden, Melwin Pantzar had 22 points and 6 rebounds, while Simon Birgander added a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
