Some things seem immortal and endless, like seeing Mindaugas Kuzminskas representing Lithuania in International basketball, since he has been with his senior national team’s for more than a decade now.

However, right before the end of the February window for the qualifying stage for FIBA EuroBasket 2025, the 35-year-old experienced veteran announced his retirement, as he won’t play in the competition co-hosted by Finland, Poland, Latvia, and Cyprus this upcoming summer.

“I feel that now is the right moment to say thank you and step aside. […] It wasn’t an easy decision in my heart, but it feels right in my head – I know I’ve given everything I had to the national team,” he announced on social media.

His last encounter with the Lithuanian national team will be in Klaipeda on Monday night, as the European powerhouse will host Baltic neighbors Estonia – both are qualified for EuroBasket 2025.

Now with AEK in the Basketball Champions League, over the course of his eventful career the 35-year-old forward has been playing at the high level in Europe, representing Milan, Zalgirs Kaunas, Unicaja Malaga among other teams in the Old Continent.

In the 2016-17 season, he even had the opportunity of playing in the NBA with the New York Knicks. Back then, he averaged 6.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, and returned to Europe after one year.
