The woes of Team Russia for the upcoming Eurobasket became even greater on Friday. Andrey Vorontsevich was injured during the preparation game against Finland, he will need three weeks to recover and he will miss the upcoming European championship, as the Russian federation announced.
“He was one of our leaders, a player of the starting five”, said coach Vasily Karasev who has to build a new team in zero time without established national team players like Andrei Kirilenko, Viktor Khryapa, Sasha Kaun and Timofey Mozgov.
