Spain and Marc Gasol put quite a show against Serbia, got the ticket to semifinal, but as the Spanish center said his team is just starting to get where they want it to be: “We earned a place in the semifinals and we really have to improve and keep going to the right direction. We believe in ourselves, we play hard and that’s the only way to win”.
Talking about the game, he gave credit to Rudy Fernandez who scored 13 points in the first quarter: “Rudy felt comfortable from the start of the game and that was big. He knew that Serbia has a lot of guys in the paint and making shots always open up things in the paint. So, after that, we attacked in the paint and operated a little bit more down there. Making shots always helps!”
However the key was defense: “Our defense was terrific! Everybody was helping and we were finishing possessions, we got the rebounds and we were running, scoring easy baskets and we did that for the entire game. I’m happy about how all the team played”.
