As Eurohoops reported four days ago, FIBA Europe will not rush its decision about the upcoming Eurobasket 2015 and it’s possible relocation from Ukraine. As Jean-Pierre Siutat, president of the French basketball federation also a member of FIBA Europe’s central board has twitted from Munich, FIBA Europe will wait not until the Fall as our sources initially insisted, but until the 15th of May in order to take its final decision.
Siutat also twitted that Ukrainian basketball federation president and former player Sasha Volkov considers the collaboration with the French basketball federation a viable solution in order for Ukraine to keep hosting the event. It remains to be seen if France will indeed co-host the tournament by getting some games from the first group phase.
UPDATE: The report is now official, as FIBA Europe via a press release confirmed the 15th of May deadline.
