Spain will host the upcoming FIBA World Cup, its capital, Madrid, has been awarded this weekend the next Euroleague Final Four and according to “El Mundo Deportivo” the country is also FIBA Europe’s main alternative for Eurobasket 2015, in case Ukraine can’t host the tournament.
In total 16 countries have expressed their interest last weekend in Munich for getting at least a part of the tournament and Ukraine’s president Aleksandr Volkov (photo) managed to get a new deadline until June for the final decision about the fate of Eurobasket 2015.
However, if Ukraine can’t fulfill its obligations and lose the tournament, Spain is more than ready to host it, because of its World Cup preparation.
