Despite the absence of major star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Greece dispatched Romania, dispatched Romania to begin its preparation ahead of the EuroBasket with an impressive manner.

Kostas Papanikolaou scored 17 points as Greece beat Romania 106 – 48 in the second semifinal match of the “International Preparation tournament”, held in the city of Patras, Greece.

Nikos Pappas added 14 points, Ioannis Papapetrou 12, Giorgos Printezis 11 while Nick Calathes provided in all areas of the game notching 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Kostas Sloukas scored 9 and George Papagiannis had 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocks in 16 minutes.

Vlad Moldoveanu led Romania with 14 points, being the only redeeming quality from his team that was overwhelmed right from the start by its hosts. Greece closed the first quarter up 22 – 7 (all Romanian points courtesy of Moldoveanu) and remained aggressive for the remainder of the game. Giordan Lee-Watson added 9 points plus 5 assists and Aleksandar Olah 5 points.

Romania will face Ukraine tomorrow while Greece will play against Great Britain.
