Giorgi Tsintsadze scored the go-ahead 3-pointer with 16 seconds remaining, as Georgia defeated Greeece 72 – 71 in the Akropolis Tournament.
Giorgos Printezis, Greece’s second top scorer with 14 points, missed the last-second floater to win the match and Ilias Zouros’ team took a prestigious victory over the tournament’s hosts, despite Zaza Pachulia’s absence.
Before Tsintsadze(13 points and 5 assists) dropped the game-winner, Giorgi Shermadini had thrown a small party inside the paint with 23 points (9/12) plus 8 rebounds being nearly impossible to be stopped by the opposing big guys.
Tornike Shengelia was also pivotal for Georgia with 14 points plus 11 rebounds. Kostas Papanikolaou led Greece with 15 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family were among the spectators of the game and also former coach Dusan Ivkovic was present at the gym.
