Latvia managed to overcome a double-digit deficit to beat Russia 84-69. Both teams are now tied at 3-1 with Latvia having the upper hand because of today’s win.

The star: Janis Timma led his team in the scoring column with 20 points adding 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

The turning point: While both teams fought hard, neither managed to pull away in the 1st quarter. And when Kristaps Porzingis picked up his third foul with 3:47 left in the half, Russia took advantage of the situation with a 5-point possession that stretched their lead to 10 (35-25).

Still, Russia only managed to score 8 points in the third and Latvia erased the 10 point lead with an 18-8 quarter. It was a team-effort for Latvia, that managed to play well despite poor production from their stars.

Timofey Mozgov led his team with 16 points and 6 rebounds but it was his work in the low-post that kept Kristaps Porzingis in check due to foul trouble. He finished the game with 11 points and 5 boards.

On the other hand, Alexey Shved had an off-night in terms of shooting finishing the game with 21 points on 7-of-19 from the field and 2/10 from beyond the 3-point line.
