Lithuania achieved their third straight win by beating Ukraine 94-62, remained atop of group B and have clinched a spot in the knockout round. It was “raining 3’s” for the winning side that finished with 12-of-26 shots from beyond the arc.
The star: Jonas Valanciunas was unstoppable and imposed his will from the start. He finished the game with a double-double, 22 points and 14 rebounds in 24 minutes. Mingandas Kuzminskas added 17 points for the winning side.
The key: Lithuania was all about business from the start finishing the first quarter with a 17-point lead (27-10). The game was pretty much decided ever since. Ukraine couldn’t keep up and didn’t have the tools to fight back.
Still, Artem Pustovyi was superb for the losing side. He had 29 points and 8 rebounds.
Lithuania now awaits the result of the game between Italy and Germany. If Germany manages to win, it will be Lithuania vs Germany with the group’s top spot on the line. So stay tuned.
