The final score was 78-64 as the hosts managed to dominate the last five minutes of a close game and beat feisty Belgium, which doesn’t have any qualification chance after this result.
The star: Furkan Korkmaz scored 14 points and half of them were registered in the most crucial turn of the game, when the outcome was decided. Cedi Osman with 10 points was once again among the key players, as also Semih Erden with 12 points and 5 assists and Melih Mahmutoglu also with 12.
Crunch time: Five minutes before the end the score was tied at 60-60 by Sam Van Rossom, but the answer of Turkey was a 7-0 run with four free throws made by Korkmaz and a big three by Mahmutoglu. Belgium took a time out, but Quentin Serron lost a lay up and Korkmaz with one more three made the score 70-60.
Despite a good start for Turkey in the first quarter (23-14), Belgium came back and stayed in the game until the last period. However, the hosts of the tournament closed the game the right way. Van Rossom with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists was the best of the losing side.
