By the end of September FIBA Europe will decide where Eurobasket 2015 will be held and the most possible scenario at this point seems to be a co-hosting formula with Germany, France, Greece, Turkey and Russia among the top contenders.

To be exact during the last central board meeting Greece and Turkey were separately offered to host the whole tournament in one city which has three big gyms – Athens or Istanbul respectively – in order to cut operating expenses, however FIBA Europe seems much more willing to divide the tournament in four different countries. Each of them will get one of the four groups of the first phase and after that all knock out games will be played in the same gym, even in a fifth different country.

Spain has also the know how and the infrastructure in order to host such a tournament, but FIBA Europe decided to exclude the country from a possible consideration for 2015, because they are also the hosts of the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
