Even though Israel had the home court advantage in the Group Stage, they only registered one win, failing to advance to the Round of 16 which takes place in Istanbul. However, it was well known that the country’s Federation would not extend the contract of its 56-year old head coach, Erez Edelstein even before his official removal from the team.
In the announcement/report from the Israeli Federation, it is emphasized that a new head coach will be found immediately with the purpose of taking the helm of the team from the beginning of the 2019 World Cup qualifiers.
