Sanikidze played with Georgia’s junior national teams at the 2004 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship and also at the 2006 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship Division B.

He has also been a member of the senior Georgian national basketball team and has competed at the EuroBasket tournaments from small countries in 2007 and 2009. He was part of the core that led Georgia to the first division of European basketball, where he played in three consecutive Eurobasket tournaments (2011, 2013, 2015). He missed this year’s competition due to injury. He decided to call it a day at his 31 years of age, following Zaza Pachulia.
