The mighty Juan Carlos “La Bomba” Navarro officially announced that he’s retired from the Spanish national team at age 37.
He’s going to step on the floor for one last time wearing the jersey of the “Rojas” in tomorrow’s (17/9) bronze medal clash vs Russia.
Navarro has won numerous distinctions and titles with the Spanish national team. A member of the senior squad since the 2000 Olympic Games, his name has been synonymous with the great renaissance of Spanish basketball that began in the previous decade.
He’s been a World Champion (2006), two-time EuroBasket winner (2009, 2011 – when he also won tournament MVP honors) and multi-medalist in the Olympic Games (silver in 2008 and 2012, plus bronze in 2016). His collection also includes two EuroBasket silver medals (2007, 2011) and one bronze (2001).
