There’s no official announcement yet, but it was a common secret for a long time that former Brose Baskets coach Chris Flemming was negotiating with the German federation in order to be the next German national team coach. According to German media reports the two sides finally reached a deal and the confirmation is expected tomorrow in a press conference at Berlin. UPDATE: As it was announced on Friday 21 of November, Flemming has a contract with the team until the summer of 2016 with an option for one more season.
The Spanish national team is also searching for a coach and Unicaja’s Joan Plaza said in the radio show “Al Primer Toque”: “I would be thrilled to be the national team coach”. At this point there’s a rule that doesn’t allow coaches of ACB clubs to be also national team coaches, however this rule is rumored to be changing soon.
