Valencia has many ups and downs during the season and the truth is that Eurocup Winners didn’t manage to play so far consistently in high level. That’s why they got out of the Euroleague top-16 and they already count 7 defeats at ACB at the end of the first round.

On Thursday the club announced the termination of the cooperation with coach Perasovic. For sure this decision had to do with the whole picture of the team and the recent shocking home loss at Eurocup, but the timing is also something which has to do with the “nature” of the contract.

There is a clause of extension (Team Option) into it for the upcoming 2015-16 season. The club was obligated to decide about that and use the option or not, till the end of the current season. So, the timing includes financial criteria also. Now Valencia has to take care only the pay off of coach Perasovic for the remaining months of that season.

As for the professional future of Velimir Perasovic, Eurohoops sources telling that he is by far the most strong candidate to replace Jasmin Repesa at the Croatian National Team. There is plenty of talent on that roster and the upcoming Eurobasket is increasing the level of challenge for this coaching position to any of the coaches are set to take the job.

The Croatian federation is looking for the best option after the end of the World Cup in Spain and Perasovic likely could be the next one in charge for the National Team. Everybody knows that everyone in country wants the team to make it to the next level and win a medal after so many years.

UPDATE: The Croatian Federation announced officially on Monday 2nd of February the agreement with Velimir Perasovic for the head coaching position.
