As the radio show “Tirando a Fallar” first reported and almost every Spanish media confirmed Sergio Scariolo is ready to return to the bench of the Spanish national team, where he has been between 2009 and 2012.
The Italian coach is a tested solution, he has great relationships with the Spanish federation and the key members of the team and he is expected to lead Spain also in the 2016 Olympics. Many other names were mentioned for the position, Joan Plaza and Pablo Laso were also rumored to be among the federation choices, however the rule which prevents Liga Endesa’s coaches to also coach national teams is the reason that they couldn’t be signed. In the recent past it was mentioned that this rule will change, but so far nothing happened.
