Clint Capela and Switzerland began the EuroBasket pre-qualifiers with a victory

Clint Capela posted a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds for a game-high 21 PIR as Switzerland beat Portugal 77 – 72 in the first round of the EuroBasket 2021 pre-qualifiers.

Capela stayed on the court for 25:45 minutes and shot 6/9 from the field plus 4/9 from the line. The Houston Rockets center was 10 in the +/- for Switzerland.

“It has been a long time and I am very happy to play for the National Team again, and knowing that we are going to play some games at home is so good. It’s going to be so great, I am very excited about it,” Capela had said prior to the launch of the pre-qualifiers, per FIBA.

Dusan Mladjan scored a game-high 21 for the Swiss squad. Jeremiah Wilson (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Joao Guerreiro (17 points) stood out from Portugal.

Switzerland and Portugal compete in Group H, along with Iceland. The group winner advances to the EuroBasket Qualifiers.
