Switzerland and Romania are the last two national teams to advance in the EuroBasket Qualifiers following the completion of the pre-qualifiers. They join Great Britain and Denmark that clinched their Qualifiers tickets Saturday.
The Swiss team needed to beat Iceland with a margin of 20 points or more in order to advance and ultimately grabbed a 109 – 85 that granted them a ticket to the Qualifiers. Roberto Kovac scored 29 points while Jonathan Kazadi added 21 points and nine rebounds.
Houston Rockets center Clint Capela contributed 18 points (8/16 2-pointers, 2/8 free throws) and 15 rebounds to help push Switzerland to victory. He had a decisive defensive play down the stretch with the score 104 – 80 and 23 seconds left to play, plus a couple of spectacular moments like the one below.
