With Tuesday’s win of Rytas Vilnius pushing AS Monaco to the 7DAYS EuroCup playoffs, the team of coach Sasa Obradovic made a demonstration of power at home, getting the 85-60 win over UNICS Kazan.
Despite playing without fans, due to coronavirus precautions, the hosts started the game with a 27-11 first quarter and never looked back. Dee Bost with 20 points and Yakuba Ouattara with 22 points led the charge with Monaco finishing on top of the Group G standings with a 4-2 record, leaving UNICS second at 3-3.
Errick McCollum with 18 points and Jordan Theodore with 11 tried their best. However, it was evident that UNICS was also already thinking about the playoffs.
“I felt good, and the team felt good,” Bost said after the game. “We played real hard. We knew they were really good, and we knew what was at stake. I want to take it one game at a time. I don’t want to set any limit because every time I set a limit, it goes the other way, so I want to take it one game at a time and play hard.”
