Mornar Bar president Djordije Pavicevic commented on the Montenegrin club not being included among the 24 teams that will participate in the 2019-2020 EuroCup by calling it a “shameful decision.”
Here’s what Pavicevic said to Sport Klub:
“The decision is shameful. If the Eurocup board had made a decision as the Euroleague did, if it had canceled the season and left all the participants from last year, we would not have commented on anything, but since they did it like this, the only word is ‘shame’. I remind you that, along with Partizan and Buducnost, we were the only ones to continue the competition, that we formed a team for the finals of last and next season. In addition, at the moment the games stopped, we had won a place in the semifinals of the playoffs, and thus in the Eurocup. What I can guarantee at this moment, if by any chance we were in the place of Cedevita Olimpija, we would surely give the Eurocup place to the opponent who deserved it on the floor, and in this case, it is Mornar from Bar,”
“It is logical that in the following period we will reconsider our participation in the ABA league because now the question is openly what is the purpose of the competition in which the results achieved on the floor are not evaluated. Considering that we secured a place in the Eurocup on the floor, we formed a team for the mentioned competition, we did not apply for FIBA competitions. I repeat once again, the decision is shameful to say the least. ”
