Luca Baraldi talked to La Gazzetta dello Sport about the Segafredo Virtus Bologna plan for the 2020-21 season. The CEO of the Italian outlet revealed a budget increase and confirmed his side is still hoping for a spot in the upcoming Turkish Airlines EuroLeague edition.
“We believe that we still have chances and we are waiting for updates,” he said regarding applying to compete in EuroLeague, “We will play in EuroCup but we are building a team that can be competitive in EuroLeague as well.”
“We will increase our budget by 20%,” he added commenting on the set plan for the next season, “We are going from €15 million to €18 million gross.”
Barring a last-minute change, the Italian team will be part of the 2020-21 edition of 7DAYS EuroCup. Early summer moves are already completed, but Virtus remains in the market for a backcourt addition.
“David Cournooh, Frank Gaines, Devyn Marble, and Marcos Delia will leave,” Baraldi pointed out, “We are looking for a guard. A high-level player but without creating too big expectations among fans. We will not sign a player for five or two million. We already have our superstar, Milos Teodosic.”
