Unicaja Malaga announced the club has reached an agreement with guard Gal Mekel to stay with the team for two more seasons.
Mekel joined Malaga shortly before the suspension of the EuroCup and ACB due to the coronavirus pandemic. His performances (8.2 points, 5.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 20:52 minutes) in six ACB games were enough for Malaga to move towards extending his contract until the end of 2021-2022.
Before Malaga, Mekel played for such teams as Maccabi Tel Aviv, Gran Canaria and Zenit St. Petersburg. He had an NBA stint with the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans from 2013 to late 2014.
