Partizan NIS Belgrade and coach Andrea Trinchieri agreed to part ways, the club announced.
The 51-year-old Italian has been leading Partizan for the past year and eight months – since November 1, 2018 – with the squad winning two Serbian Cups and one ABA SuperCup.
The team seemed to reach its peak this past season prior to the hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic. They were at the top of the ABA League standings and qualified for the 7DAYS EuroCup playoffs with the best record, which would have secured them the home-court advantage until the very end.
As Eurohoops already reported, coach Trinchieri will be moving to Germany to take over Bayern Munich. On the other hand, Partizan president Ostoja Mijailovic announced that there will be a press conference next week in order to present the new head coach. Current assistant coach Vlado Scepanovic is likely to take the responsibility.
