Lietkabelis tabs Gytis Masiulis

Lietkabelis have penned power forward Gytis Masiulis with a one-year deal, per the team’s official announcement Wednesday.

Per EuroCup:

Lietkabelis Panevezys added size and potential to its roster by signing power forward Gytis Masiulis to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Masiulis (2.07 meters, 22 years old) arrives from Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt, where he averaged 11.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in six German League games at the end of last season.

The Lithuanian started the 2019-20 campaign with Neptunas Klaipeda, averaging 10.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 21 Lithuanian League games before joining Frankfurt on loan for the season-ending tournament.

He started his career with Zalgiris Kaunas and shined at the 2016 Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament. In his second appearance in the tournament, Masiulis averaged 22.0 points and 10.3 rebounds in three games. He made his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with Zalgiris and played there until joining Neptunas in 2018. Masiulis helped Zalgiris win back-to-back Lithuanian League titles in 2017 and 2018, as well as lifting the Lithuanian Cup trophy in 2018. His father, Tomas Masiulis, played professionally and won the EuroLeague title with Zalgiris in 1999. He was one of Sarunas Jasikevicius’ assistant coaches at Zalgiris and joined him at FC Barcelona.
