Kevin Hervey penned a one-year deal to join Lokomotiv Kuban, the Russian club and 7DAYS EuroCup participant announced Monday. Loko was in the market to replace Johnny O’Bryant.
“I am looking forward to joining the team and start the season,” he said upon signing, “This will be a completely different experience for me. It’s very interesting to really understand how different basketball is overseas.”
The Dallas-born forward, UT Arlington alum, was picked 57th in the 2018 NBA draft. He since split his freshly-launched pro career between the NBA and the G League’s Oklahoma City Blue. Next season jumps him to the EuroCup and VTB United League.
“I haven’t yet had the chance to talk with my teammates and coach, but I know there are many talented players part of the squad, including several Americans,” he commented on the Russian outlet, “I am sure they will help me adapt as quickly as possible.”
O’Bryant departing for family reasons prompted the team based in Krasnodar to reinforce its frontline.
