Despite losing 77-69 at Lietkabelis Panevezys, MoraBanc Andorra celebrated winning a spot in the 7DAYS EuroCup Top 16.
Margiris Normantas led the way with 17 points for Lietkabelis, which needed a 10-point victory to stay alive for the next stage. Gytis Masiulis added 16 points and 9 rebounds. Clevin Hannah (photo) saved the day with 27 points for the Spanish club and Haukur Palsson scored 12 points.
The top of the group standings, however, belongs to Virtus Bologna which got the easy win over Telenet Antwerp Giants.
The final score was 92-73 as Milos Teodosic and co got the job done with ease. Amar Alibegovic scored 16 points and Kyle Weems added 14, while Marco Belinelli once more was absent for the winning side.
Meanwhile, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar held on to beat AS Monaco 76-72 on Wednesday and secure second place in the group standings. Kevin Hervey stole the ball and Mantas Kalnietis iced the game from the line.
Jordan Crawford led the winners with 17 points, Kalnietis finished with 14 and Reggie Lynch totaled 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. Dee Bost was Monaco’s top scorer with 18 points.
