Milos Teodosic leads Virtus Bologna to the next round

A solid second half lifted Segafredo Virtus Bologna to the away win, 99-89, versus Buducnost VOLI Wednesday evening. The team coached by Sasha Djordjevic secured its place in the 7DAYS EuroCup quarterfinals.

Milos Teodosic starred generating 26 points, four assists, and four rebounds for the Italian outlet. Two triples dialed in by the Serbian guard highlighted the 13-4 run to close the first half and set the pace for the second part of the Top 16 Round 4 tilt.

The fast-paced contest suited both Teodosic and Stefan Markovic. The fellow Serbian guard dished out a season-high 13 assists to go along with his seven points. Kyle Weems added 14 points and Julian Gamble finished with ten.

Marco Belinelli lasted only six minutes picking up an injury midway through the second period.

On the opposite end, Justin Cobbs scored a team-high 17 points. Willie Reed posted a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double. Melvin Ejim registered 16 points as well.

Dejan Milojevic following an ABA League win in his debut as the head coach of the Montenegrin club saw his side fall to 1-3 in Group G.

Cedevita Olimpija overpowered depleted JL Bourg landing the win, 77-64, in the other Group G match. The home loss took the French team out of contention for the advancing slots.

Rion Brown and Jaka Blazic shared a team-high 15 points. Kendrick Perry went for 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists in the sixth straight W in all competitions. Luka Asceric and Maxime Courby shared a team-high 11 points for Savo Vucevic’s team.

The visitors mostly in control improved defensively in the second half to prevail. An 18-3 run constructed a healthy lead down the stretch. One win in either of the two remaining games will move them to the quarterfinals.
