A couple of seconds before the end of the game and with the score 91 – 88 it looked like Cedevita Olimpija could become the first team to beat Virtus Bologna after 15 rounds in this season’s EuroCup.
But then, Marco Belinelli happened. The former NBA champion hit the game-tying 3-pointer that sent the game to overtime and Bologna dominated the extra period to escape with the 108 – 98 win.
Bellineli finished with 16 points while Sonny Weems led the charge overall for Bologna, scoring a season-high 25 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Milos Teodosic had 12 points plus 14 assists and Vince Hunter posted a double-double of his own thanks to 12 points and 10 rebounds.
For Cedevita, Jaka Blazic dropped a game-high 29 points whole Edo Muric had 15 points. The latter missed the game-winning attempt after Belinelli’s game-tier.
Kendric Perry contributed 15 points and nine assists for the hosts that could’ve qualified to the playoffs with the win. They are now 3-2 and at the second place with Buducnost Podgorica being third at 1-3 and one game less.
