AS Monaco made club history on Friday after sweeping Herbalife Gran Canaria 76-74 in Game 2 of the semifinals, to clinch its first 7DAYS EuroCup Finals ticket! Just as GranCa had recovered and evened the score at 74 points with six seconds to go, Rob Gray came in with the game-winner for the French and the historic qualification.
Marcos Knight paced all scorers for Zvezdan Mitrovic’s squad with 17 points, Dee Bost and Jaleel O’Brien posted 15 points each and Damien Inglis had 12 points.
GranCa recovered from a 45-35 deficit in the first half, though couldn’t complete its comeback to defend its homecourt in the end. Stanley Okoye led the hosts with 15 points, Aleksander Balcerowski posted 12 points and Matthew Costello had 11 points and 9 rebounds.
The French team will now await its opponent, which will be decided in Game 3 between UNICS Kazan and Segafredo Virtus Bologna next week (April 14).
