Thirty years after launching his legendary coaching career, Zeljko Obradovic returned to Partizan NIS inking a three-year contract, the Serbian team announced Friday. The deal had surfaced earlier, first reported by Mozzart Sport.
“We are happy and satisfied that Zeljko Obradovic is back,” said club president Ostoja Mijailovic, “I believe no words can be enough to describe what his return means for Partizan. We will discuss more details in the press conference. We have a big job ahead of us.”
Obradovic, 61, in his first job since leaving Fenerbahce one year ago, will lead Partizan in the 7DAYS EuroCup this season. With the Serbian mastermind back, his side gets on track for a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague return next season.
The nine-time EuroLeague champion and three-time EuroLeague Coach of the Year, has been the head coach at Badalona, Real Madrid, Benetton Treviso, and Panathinaikos, besides Fener and Partizan.
Partizan plans to introduce him via a press conference on Monday, June 28.
