Virtus Bologna started off the season in Italy with a 102-88 win over Trento, however, they have paid a cost as well along the way. Awudu Abass had to exit the game after playing for only two minutes and, after the tests, he was diagnosed with an ACL injury in his right knee.

“Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna SpA announces that Awudu Abass, following the injury that occurred during the first day of the championship, was subjected to instrumental tests which revealed an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee. The player has already started the pre-operative process and recovery times will be communicated following the surgery, scheduled shortly,” the club announced.

This is not the first blow for Virtus this season when it comes to injuries as the squad had already lost Ekpe Udoh to a knee injury in the Italian SuperCup quarterfinals.
