Valencia holds off JL Bourg’s comeback for second straight win

Valencia saw its lead vanishing in the third quarter, though in the end, they managed to defeat JL Bourg 98-95 at home for their second straight victory.

Xabi Lopez-Arostegui paced all scorers for Joan Penarroya’s squad with 18 points, Jasiel Riviero picked up 16 points and 5 rebounds, while Jaime Pradilla also had 16.

Klemen Prepelic and Bojan Dubljevic also did their part for the Spanish side, adding 15 and 13 points respectively, while Sam Van Rossom posted back-to-back points (8 in total) down the final stretch to gift Valencia this win.

Rasheed Sulaimon and Calvin Harris Jr. combined 49 points for victory-starved Bourg (25 and 24 respectively), Jacorey Willams picked up 16 points and Axel Julien had 14.

Justin Cobbs placed himself in an elite record list as Buducnost prevailed over Cedevita Olimpija 91-60 at home. Cobbs posted 33 points, to go along with 5 assists and 3 rebounds for a total PIR of 44, as he entered the Top 30 of all-time top performers in a single game in the competition.

Buducnost bounced back from last week’s defeat in fashion and currently leads Group B with a 4-1 tie next to Gran Canaria.

Melvin Ejim had 14 points for Cedevita and Edo Muric added 10 and the team suffered its third consecutive defeat.

Promitheas Patras outlasted ratiopharm Ulm 71-65 on the road for their second straight win after a tough start into the competition.

Kendrick Ray paced the Greeks with 14 points, Isaiah Miles added 11 points and Jerai Grant posted 10.

Ulm’s very limited rotation took a toll in the second half, when Promitheas emerged to take the lead for the first time.

Thomas Klepeisz posted 22 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts, Semaj Christon had 20 and Fedor Zugic added 11.

Earlier in Round 5, Virtus Bologna returned to their winning ways with a much-needed victory in the Italian showdown against Reyer Venice.
