Turk Telekom Ankara announced they have named Henrik Rodl as the team’s new head coach. Rodl returns to EuroCup to replace Burak Goren, who started the season on Turk Telekom’s bench but parted ways with the club two weeks prior.
Rodl, 52, played in ALBA Berlin from 1993 to 2004 and started his coaching career there with the youth teams in 2005. He made his pro debut in January of 2005, taking the reins of the first team. In two EuroCup seasons under Rodl, ALBA had a 6-13 record.
He led TBB Trier in his native Germany from 2010 to 2015 before he was promoted from assistant to head coach of the national team between 2017 and 2021. Under Rodl, the national team finished 18th at the 2019 World Cup and eighth at the recent 2020 Olympics in Tokyo after going 4-0 in the qualifying tournament.
Turk Telekom is currently placed 7th in Group A of EuroCup, in a three-way ti with Lietkabelis Panavezys and Boulogne Metropolitans 92.
